At the Center for Non-Adversarial Divorce in Genesee, I focus my practice on mediation, working together with both parties. We work toward creating cooperative solutions to the division of marital property and debt, taxes, maintenance (alimony), child custody, parental responsibilities and parenting time, child support and other issues to be resolved in divorce.
I know from over 20 years as a divorce mediator working with couples in non-adversarial proceedings that divorcing couples can be trusting and trustworthy, can have meaningful communication, and can cooperate to amicably reach agreement. Contact my office for a free 30-minute telephone consultation.
Before the mediation begins, I will send you a checklist of the items you need to bring with you in order to facilitate open disclosure of all relevant information.
The goal of mediation is informed decision-making and agreement. I will do my best to explain the legalities of your assets and finances — in plain English — so you can develop the best possible agreement for yourselves.
I will take the time to make certain you understand how the process works. In my experience, mediation works best when both parties make a commitment to work together.
As your mediator, I do not make any decisions for you. Unlike in court, where the judge is the decision maker, in mediation you make your own decisions.
We will work carefully together to outline all your financial facts and circumstances, which will enable you to reach agreement about:
If you have children, we will work together to establish a parenting time plan that works for everyone.
I will help you identify ways that you can work together to your mutual benefit. Though most mediations are successfully completed after three or four two-hour meetings, there is no timetable. You can move as quickly or as slowly as you wish.
When you reach an agreement you can file it with the court as your separation agreement, part of making your divorce legally final. I can also help you with most of the other court forms, if you wish.
If you want to find a cooperative solution to your divorce, contact my office to schedule a free 30-minute telephone consultation. The Center for Non-Adversarial Divorce is open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
